Review on TED-Ed

Ted-Ed is an easily accessible learning platform that provides an international space for teachers to create their own lessons using any videos that are available in youtube or they can create a new. Both teacher and students have the opportunity to use Ted-Ed in their language learning process. This website offers free educational content sharing from youtube and teachers can also customize it as their teaching goal that is suitable for the students.

To use this Ted-ed, one first have to open a Ted-ed account using his/her gmail or facebook account. Once a teacher open a Ted-ed account and post something in it, s/he can check it too as a student without opening a student account. It has a shifting mood from teacher to student or student to teacher. Then to create a customized lesson teacher have to click on “create a lesson” and copy paste the URL of the target youtube link. That video will be auto added on that lesson and after that all that teacher have to do, is to create practice exercise for the students. Here the students will get several steps for that lesson.

First, in the “watch” section the students might get some pre-information about the video and what they are going to do next.

Second in the “think” section students will find all the activities that they have to solve after watching the previous video.

Third in the “dig deeper” section teacher will provide some more information or study related to the previous video. S/he might add some links from internet to elaborate the idea more specifically.

Lastly in the “discuss” section teacher put a prompt question the students from the video already provided.

All the sections are very much well organized and well instructed that even a new student can do all the activities following the instruction given. This is very much user friendly website. Both the teacher and student do not have to face any hassles while using Ted-ed. Teaching lesson with videos keeps the boredom away from the students. Youtube serves a huge number of videos on different sources and teacher can easily choose an educational video for his/her students. Learning with videos is very much fun. Solving all the activities that have been chosen from the teacher is like a puzzle game for the students. This process keeps the enthusiasm of the students and they do not get bored. Through this Ted-ed even students can make their own practice lesson and can share it with other mates. There are no bound limitations for anyone to make any lessons. So everyone can utilize Ted-ed as educational perspective.

Every website has some limitations of their own but I personally have not found any major objections with Ted-ed. But one thing must be notice that, Ted-ed is only an internet based website and to access in this one must have a computer and internet connection. So this website does not aim to all level of students. Only a certain amount of students can access this Ted-ed and get free lesson. Another thing is that all the students do not have the same level of knowledge of using internet. Though Ted-ed gives a plenty of instructions to use it, still some students may face problems while operate it. Than as there is no bound limitations to who can use it, there might a question arises about its quality issue. Anyone from any background may open a Ted-ed account and make non-sense lessons.

Above these little issues Ted-ed is a wonderful website for teaching-learning perspective. It makes a bridge among teachers and students outside the classroom. Through this Ted-ed students can improve their reading as well as listening skills. So one can make learning more interesting and authentic for the students using this Ted-ed.
